Overview:
This is a NASA Test, Evaluation, and Support contract position; it may be assigned to Jacobs Technology Inc. or a teammate company.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will contribute key technical support to the Materials Technology Group, which provides materials characterization, mechanical testing, nondestructive testing, corrosion evaluation, materials selection, and failure analysis services. Responsibilities include technical consultation to internal and external customers, interpretation of codes and specifications, development of laboratory procedures, preparation and presentation of formal documents such as reports, standards, and other technical papers. This position requires the ability to analyze test data and apply NDE techniques such as liquid penetrant, radiography, and ultrasonics. Responsibilities will grow to include conceiving; planning, managing and/or conducting materials test projects. Occasional travel may be required to support customers with standard or developmental NDE techniques. Candidate may be assigned various tasks such as mechanical engineering tasks in support of system design, system build-up, component testing, experimental design and analysis, pressure vessel system engineer, and testing of materials. Applicable knowledge and background experience is desired. MS degree is preferred. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must posses a valid state driver's license. Must pass a federal background investigation. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing. Must be able to occasionally work non-typical schedules in hot, dusty and confined spaces.

Qualifications:
BS degree in Metallurgical & Materials Engineering or other engineering discipline from an ABET accredited engineering program and one (1) to two (2) years related engineering experience, or MS degree from an ABET accredited engineering program. MS degree is preferred. Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position. ASNT or NAS410 certifications in the radiographic, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic, or other NDE methods are highly desirable. Other valuable skills include theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory experience in materials characterization and testing (SEM/EDS, optical microscopy and mechanical testing), and outstanding verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Additional highly desirable qualifications include knowledge of structure-property relationships of aerospace alloys, particularly stainless steels, metallurgical failure analysis methodology, welding processes, corrosion of aerospace alloys, XRF and other analytical techniques.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements are: sitting for an extensive periods of time. Position requires computer operation to accomplish tasks. Must be able to sit for extended duration to perform some tasks. Must be able to work in shop, laboratory, and test facility environment. This includes standing, walking, and occasional climbing or crawling around test facilities. Some WSTF test systems are located outdoors and/or in hazardous test areas. Some work will require use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, hearing protection, eye protection and other associated protective equipment. Individuals must be able to pass physical examinations necessary for approval to work in these areas.
Work Environment:
Majority of work is in a climate-controlled office environment, however work in laboratory and/or outdoor test facility environments is also common. As necessary, must be able to travel to other work areas, be aware of safety requirements for those areas, and work within those constraints (e.g. access procedures and proper PPE). Must have the ability to work with hazardous materials in a Hazardous Testing Environment (materials such as, but not limited to, high pressure gases, reactive aerospace fluids/propellants, explosives, and cryogenics).
Equipment and Machines:
Common personal computer software including Microsoft Windows and Office 2003. Will need to work with Microsoft Project and related packages to accomplish work. May be required to drive government vehicles, must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Attendance:
There are no extraordinary requirements for attendance. Regular attendance and punctuality are important and are required for consistent customer service. This is a full time position which may require overtime on occasion. Support to second or third shift may be required in support of high priority test programs. Occasional travel may be required.

Essential Functions:
Test programs at WSTF often have an aggressive schedule with daily on-site interaction with a NASA project manager. It is vital that the individuals involved are team-players, willing and able to multi-task and redirect their efforts as needed for the success of the project. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by the NASA White Sands Test Facility and the Company for the job classification. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing. Must maintain site access to NASA facilities and computer systems.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
