Overview:
This is a reserve corps position for the NASA Test, Evaluation and Support contract.
Responsibilities:
This position is in support of the oxygen system design and analysis group which will require overall engineering knowledge of hazards in high pressure oxygen systems, engineering investigations, including technical presentations and briefs. Occasional travel maybe required to participate in engineering investigations. Candidate may be assigned various tasks such as mechanical engineering tasks in support of oxygen system design hazard analysis, and experimental design. Applicable knowledge and background experienced is required. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must posses a valid state driver''s license. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing.
Qualifications:
BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program and a minimum of fifteen (15) years of direct experience or MS degree from an accredited engineering program and thirteen years of direct engineering experience or Ph.D degree from an accredited engineering school and none (9) years of direct engineering experience. Membership (or equivalent recognition) on an external technical society committee/board. Recognized expert in area of responsibility. Required demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to effectively work with others.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements are: sitting for an extensive periods of time.
Work Environment:
Will be required to work inside and maybe requested to travel an required by management.
Equipment and Machines:
Computer work required. Knowledge of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and MS Project is necessary. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, and other standard office equipment is required.
Attendance:
Work schedule depends on hours required to complete scheduled tasks which may include temporary shift work to accommodate testing requirements and some occasional travel.
