Overview:
This is a NASA Test, Evaluation and Support contract position; it may be assigned to Jacobs Technology Inc. or a teammate company.
Responsibilities:
Provide lead technical support and direction to the Radio Communication Group. Works with and leads cross-functional teams to bring assigned projects such as digital and analog RF communication tasks using project management techniques to a successful completion. Duties require working with NASA and other external customers to support the group's goals and objectives. Designs and directs the installation and operation of complex communication systems that include land mobile radios, microwave links, RF paging systems, radio trunking software and database management tools, and telephone interconnections. Duties include writing reports, maintenance and operating procedures and providing technical and operational training. Interacts with senior management and senior customer representatives by providing detailed presentations that include cost estimates and resource scheduling. Develops long range strategic plans and proposals to maintain the communication systems in current industry configuration level and communicating with stakeholder personnel necessary system upgrade needs.

Responsibilities:
Managing the NASA portion of the White Sand Regional Trunking System to provide necessary everyday support as well as emergency situational support between NASA, WSMR, USAF, Ft. Bliss, and others who may participate in the system.
Working team member of the White Sand Regional Trunking System user's group. Must be visionary; able to plan for 3-5 years from current, understand life-cycle management and future goals for NASA.
Manage the NASA/WSTF radio paging system. Must have the ability to develop training plans for customers.
Designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic parts, components, or integrated circuitry for electronic equipment or other hardware systems.
Analyzes requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability.
May also review vendor capability to support development.
Determines design approach, architecture, and specifications.
Performs detailed analysis of candidate design topologies, inclusive of radio-level tradeoffs.
Identifies tasks, estimates duration, executes per the schedule.
Qualifications:
BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program and three (3) to five (5) years related engineering experience. Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position. Requires experience operating and maintaining Motorola P25 release 7.5 Smartzone system or equivalent system. Requires experience with the following Motorola interfaces: Unified Event Manager (UEM), Unified Control Manager (UCM), MCC 7500 console, Radio Control Manager (RCM) and Controller Access System (CAS). Experience:
Digital microwave radio systems including operator control, debugging & testing
Analog Experience - 2 and 4 Wire and knowledge of E&M; Signaling echo cancelling, voice compression, computer simulation of analog circuitry.
Remote Control Interface Experience - RS-232, RS-485, SNMP, etc.
Working Knowledge of Communication Interface - RS-449, RS-530, V.35, RS-232, 585-A&B;, fiber optic connectors.
UHF/VHF/HF Radio Experience - Operation and control both local and remote, debugging & testing.
Land Mobile Radio system design, implementation, maintenance, debugging & testing.
Software applications - AutoCAD, Visio, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Project, MS PowerPoint
Installation Experience - Rack configuration, system integration (radio or microwave).
Background in maintenance support
Test Equipment Experience - Spectrum analyzers, BERT testers, power measurement test sets, fiber optic test sets (OTDR, Power Meter and Source), etc.
Working knowledge of power systems such as UPS, solar panel systems, DC power systems.
Physical Requirements:
Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting. Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing. Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures. Typically required to lift and hold up to 30 pounds. Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment:
Desk/office work and test area work. Position requires individual to travel to different areas on site. Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the facility and off-site mountaintop repeater that are only accessible by cable tram or helicopter. Must be able to function as a member of a team in a fast paced environment. All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines:
Computer work required. Use of calculator, printer, fax, scanner, telephone, filing cabinets, and other standard office equipment is required. Operation of a government motor vehicle may be required.
Attendance:
Regular attendance and punctuality is required. Occasional overtime may be required in support of test project schedules or other priority assignments as determined by management or customer needs. Normal working hours are nine (9) hour per day with some flexibility based on pre-approval. A condensed work schedule, allowing alternate Fridays off, is typically in use for each two week pay cycle (9-80 schedule).

Must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Must work well under pressure to meet deadline requirements. Dress must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk or hazard to the employee or others in accordance with NASA and Company policies. Must be a U.S Citizen. Must possess a valid state driver's license. Must pass a Federal background investigation. Must be able to pass a physical examination as determined by the NASA White Sands Test Facility and the Company for the job classification. Must submit to pre-employment drug testing. Must maintain site access to NASA facilities and computer systems.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
