Position
Summary:
Assists survivors with filing orders of protection, coordinate referrals to legal services, immigration services and other resources.

00/HR Depending on qualifications and education Essential Duties:
Assist and advocate for clients as necessary with legal and immigration issues, including completing and filing protective order petitions.
Provide or assist in providing advocacy and referrals to clients by actively helping them to access necessary services utilizing community resources and partnerships.
Conduct research as necessary to provide information to clients.
Assist clients in obtaining legal representation and to accompany clients at trials or court hearings as necessary.
Evaluate clients' eligibility for immigration benefits and possible bars to immigration.
Ensure that information on available services is provided to individuals in the community.
Provide or assist in providing advocacy and referrals to clients by actively helping them to access necessary mental health or other services from government and private agencies and programs.
Network with victim advocates, magistrate, municipal and district courts, and other community service organizations in order to stay informed of the needs in the community for the services provided.
Assist clients with accessing other services within the agency and other agency partners.
Cover service assessments on a rotational basis.
Provide all services in an empathic manner, providing guidance, motivation and encouragement according to trauma-informed guided principles.
Administrative Duties:
Compile data and complete all required documentation in a timely manner, to include monthly and quarterly reports.
Maintain compliance with funder requirements in delivering services and completing all required documentation and maintaining organized and completed client files.
Maintain accurate client electronic files by creating client files and uploading all necessary documentation to meet program requirements.
Translate written documents from Spanish to English as needed for clients and staff.
Provide training and educational presentations to volunteers and new staff.
Provide back-up coverage for front desk, take messages, donations and schedule new clients as needed.
Keep office and area clean and organized.
Secure and maintain documents in confidential location at all times.
Training:
Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings.
Ongoing professional development including keeping abreast of recent trends and developments regarding domestic violence and advocacy as they pertain to the clients served by La Casa.
Attend seminars and trainings approved by supervisor.

Assist donors with unloading items into carts and pushing carts to outside donations area when needed.
Pick up bags or boxes of donations from outside front area or lobby area to maintain clear paths.

Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
A minimum of three (3) years full-time (can be volunteer or paid) experience in related domestic violence field case work, advocating for clients, assisting in orders of protection and referrals to services.
Must be proficient with computer word processing and spreadsheet programs and phone systems.

Bilingual in Spanish/English (written and oral) is required to communicate with mono-lingual clients and provide translation to non-Spanish speaking legal or other agency referral representatives.
License/Certification:
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
Work Environment:
Work performed majority of time indoors in office setting; temperature-controlled environment.
When working outdoors unloading and placing donated materials, subject to weather conditions and uneven surfaces.
Light lifting up to 25 lbs.
