About the Role:
The Resource Specialist cooperates with the Travel Team at BSC's Hospitality Center (temporary shelter).
They directly report to the Campus Manager.
The role is predominantly interpersonal with guests and team members within the scope of daily operations as it relates to the logistics of helping asylum seekers.
While the Resource Specialist role plays a part in managing the logistics of BSC, the primary objective for this individual is to identify resources and support for asylum seekers that have more complicated cases/situations relative to the other families and individuals that we serve.
The Resource Specialist will be tasked with reaching out to interior U.
S.
churches and NGOs in order to obtain viable sponsors that can be connected with asylum seekers in our care.
The Resource Specialist will use the networks, tools and connections available through BSC to identify viable options for the asylum seekers.
An ideal candidate for this position will identify some of their own connections and continue to build our database of resources.
The goal of the Resource Specialist is to identify solutions in a time-sensitive manner to maximize the time asylum seekers are allowed to stay at the BSC Hospitality Center.
An ideal Resource Specialist is personable, kind and caring with experience in case management and/or immigration or human rights advocacy related organizations.
While compassion is a requirement of the role, the Resource Specialist must be able to relay difficult news to the asylum seekers we serve if resources are not available.
Responsibilities:
Operations:
Works with both the Travel & Guest Services Teams to carry out operations at the Hospitality Center (temporary shelter).
Relevant operations include, but may not be limited to:
Guest Services Provide the highest quality of trauma-informed care for all guests Welcome, and train others to welcome, guests to campus via a welcome speech delivered when DHS delivers the asylum seekers from the processing center Explain procedures in other departments to guests when needed (holistic knowledge of BSC operation required) Respond to the needs of guests during their stay Casework (micro) Manage an ever-changing caseload of approximately 10-20 new families/individuals per day Coordinate travel arrangements for guests referred to Resource Specialist services Create casework protocols to ensure that the number of guests that time out with no options is kept to a minimum Maintain accurate inventory logs of Resource Specialist office supplies Casework (macro) Study and analyze various demographic trends at BSC to improve operations and services Assess quality improvement of processes/systems as it relates to travel and resources specialist services; provide related ongoing trainings to the Travel Team Collaborate with outside agencies, such as Lutheran Family Services and Jesuit Refugee Services, to stay up-to-date on best practices Maintain and build relationships with viable interior U.

NGOs and churches to expand our network of family sponsors.
Identify underserved areas of our operation.
Reach out and collaborate with outside agencies to fill those gaps.
Welcoming & Teamwork Collaborate with all members of the Hospitality Center - including community volunteers - to ensure success of the overall operation Welcome groups and individuals visiting/volunteering at the site, offering insight/information about the significance/impact of the role Candidate Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; some college experience preferred
Experience:
Minimum two (2) years of full- time work experience; 2-3 years experience working at nonprofit organizations and/or in a case management-related role preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Conversationally fluent in Spanish and English, required Comfort speaking to and directing crowds Highly skilled and de-escalating tense interactions.
Demonstrated skill at prompt and professional verbal and written communication Skilled at working in a team-oriented collaborative environment Strong initiative Flexible; ability to adjust to changing circumstances Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to demonstrate gender-sensitive and non-discriminatory behavior attitudes Proficient to strong in the areas of:
