is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states.
We are seeking a Director of Nursing to lead a team of RN's and LPN's in New Mexico.
The Director of Nursing leads a team including RNs and LPNs for an assigned region to care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
This person will support your team with day-to-day operations and challenges to ensure the medical and healthcare needs of the individuals we support are met.
This opportunity can be based out of any of our New Mexico offices located in Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Las Cruces.
Immediate travel 1 week per month transition to 1 week every 2-3 month.
The salary range for this position is $90,000-$110,000 annually.
Responsibilities Lead and train your team to support programmatic initiatives, goals, and the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities Manage team performance through effective communication, training, performance management, staff meetings, employee recognition, and internal control reviews Provide treatment and health care procedures ordered by a physician and required by the standards of professional practice or law Train staff on the healthcare needs, medical conditions, and plan of care for assigned individuals Develop and conduct comprehensive training programs Develop and update Nursing Care Plans and Health Care Plans with an interdisciplinary team to include any concerns, observations, and behavioral developments Ensure nursing protocols comply with state and Board of Nursing regulations and guidelines Advise supervisor of all concerns and issues related to the provision of nursing services Ensure nurse assessments and program documentation are completed accurately and timely Monitor health and medical conditions of individuals and refer for medical services as needed Assess systemic risk management issues with the administration of medications Review all medication errors, analyze each error, and report per state regulations Build a support network for individuals by developing and maintaining relationships with community members, businesses, and families Follow strict Infection Control procedures regarding blood borne pathogens Cooperate with audits, inspections, and investigations Available after hours by phone for on call emergency telephone triage Assume regional RN responsibilities as needed Employees must cooperate with the licensee and department staff in any inspection, inquiry or investigation Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or related field Valid RN license Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record Minimum two years of experience as a Registered Nurse Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines Remain abreast of all Board of Nursing regulations and industry standards Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities Knowledge of state regulatory agency operations and standards relevant to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities Team oriented with demonstrated leadership experience Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations Proficient with Microsoft Office Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent time management skills Working Conditions Work in an office environment, residential programs, day programs, and in the community Ability to travel between sites and offices on a weekly basis Hours and weekly schedules may change due to business needs and may include evening and weekend hours May be required to be on-call in cooperation with other management staff Frequent lifting, stretching, and other physical exertion may be required Community Options is an Equal Opportunity Employer M/F/D/V #IND-LC Job Type:
